Environmental
engineer and has worked as a senior researcher at the Öko-Institut since 1990.
His work focuses on waste management, life cycle assessments, air pollution
control and material flow analyses. During this time he has led numerous major
research projects on these topics for the UBA, BMU(B), BMBF and private
clients. For many years, he has been working on the ecological assessment of
environmental burdens in connection with a wide range of processes, especially
with regard to the collection, processing and recycling of various waste
fractions. Before joining the Öko-Institut, he worked for about 5 years in the
environmental authorities of the city of Düsseldorf and the Darmstadt Regional
Council, where he was responsible for the management of contaminated sites,
groundwater protection and the approval and control of waste treatment plants.
